Franks at District 13
Posted by Shannon on 01/02/2012
A few months ago, my Friday date night was in L.A. Shocking…I know. S and I ventured outside of the Southbay neighborhood I love so dearly, and we went to bar hopping, just the two of us.
A few hours and drinks later, we both wanted to eat some hot wings. However, the first spot we walked into (next door to District 13) had a dull crowd and didn’t exude the kind of vibe we wanted to end the evening with. Wandering into District 13, we grabbed seats at the bar, ordered beers and hunkered down to read through the full menu of customizable franks.
We both knew we’d be choosing from the “Exotic” section since we could find the first 11 traditional ones most any day. The bf’s choice was the Alligator Andouille sausage, made with onions and wine. His topping were the caramelized onions and cilantro with Dijon and ketchup on the side. I had a bite and did actually taste the wine flavor. That made me even more excited to try my gourmet dog selection.
Mine was a Wild Boar dog with sauerkraut, caramelized onions and spicy brown mustard on the side. Before I knew it, the entire bun and dog was demolished, and I was left with a happy tummy and a half glass of beer to chase it with.
To summarize… this is an exotic hot dog locale with beer, wine, rotating (local) art displays, and a menu item named the “Danger Dog.” Ready to try it yourself?
